The Dreaded Dental

Please don't judge this picture too harshly. This was taken after my dental surgery last Thursday. The anesthesia hadn't completely worn off, so my eyes are kind of goopy.
This is me climbing into my bed that mom had waiting for me inside the car. Can you see the utter joy and relief spelled out on my face?
It was a dreadful experience to say the least. Because of my stupid heart murmur, mom is afraid to let me undergo regular dentals, so I don't go as often as I should. This time Dr. Fred pulled 4 teeth; three little ones and a big one in the back. I kind of needed that big one for chewing, doggonit! Oh, well. I was fussed over so much by both the humans that I suppose it was worth it.

The worst part is I have to be on heart medication for the rest of my life. On the flip side I get a small dollop of peanut butter to help it go down. Every. Single. Day.

Hey Sparky,

Sorry bout' the toofers. Going to the vet is not much fun. It was nice of your mom to make a comfy bed for the ride home. My mom is afraid my little brother is going to lose some of his toofers so she is brushing them almost daily and adding stuff to his water. Take care!

Bijou

Aww Sparky, too bad about losing that big toof but at least you got the dreaded V.E.T. visit out of the way. I'm kissing the booboo on your heart to make it all better!

Pee Ess from Mom: Gail, I also put stuff in their water for their teeth, tried brushing their teeth in the past, but quickly gave that up! I'll look at the bottle tonight when I get home and will let you know what it is.

Gail, the stuff I put in their water is by Four Paws, and I believe the name of it is something like Pet Dental (can you believe that I purposely looked at the bottle this morning and now that I'm in work I can't correctly remember the name....old age, hahaha!!) I got it at Pet Smart, but I've also gotten some good stuff in the past from Petco. You really want to look for something that has no alcohol in it or sweetners.

I've been using it on both of them for over two months now, not sure how well it's working on their teeth, but it has cleared up Lilibell's dragon breath, haha! They have a wellness appointment next Thursday, we'll see then how good this stuff is working.

Sorry you had to go to the VET...medicine everyday sounds like a pain in the rear for the humans but not so bad for you with the peanut butter everyday :)

Oh, baby. Hope you're getting along okay without those choppers. Even working around those holes in your mouth is better than the pain of toothache, though, so it's worth it. Take good care of the ones you've got left, and they'll take good care of you!
